Resident Evil: Special Edition (2002, Rated R, 101 minutes) available from Columbia/TriStar Home Entertainment

Stars: Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, and Eric Mabius

Plot: Based on the popular video game, a deadly virus accidentally escapes within a secret government facility, turning animals and scientists alike into mutants and zombies. A special military unit is sent in to get to the source and stop the virus before it surfaces and infects the rest of the world.

Features: Widescreen presentation, Cast/Filmmaker Commentary Track, 5 Featurettes, Slipknot’s “My Plague” Music Video, Dolby Digital 5.1 English and French audio, English and French subtitles.

Final Word: Adapted by writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson (who also made the adaptation of Mortal Kombat) the plot’s a bit thin here. But hey, it’s a video game! All in all, Resident Evil provides a fun little zombie movie with some surprisingly decent suspense and a couple of nice featurettes on the DVD.
