Neil Simon’s ‘Lost In Yonkers’

Stars: Richard Dreyfuss, Mercedes Ruehl, Irene Worth, and David Strathairn

Plot: After their mother’s death in WWII-era New York, two brothers are sent to live with their iron-fisted grandmother (Worth). In grandma’s grasp is their Aunt Bella (Ruehl), a woman with lofty dreams. Uncle Louie (Dreyfuss), a small-time gangster, arrives to shake up the mix and offer everyone a chance at happiness.

Features: Widescreen presentation, Theatrical Trailers, Dolby Surround 2.0 English audio, English/French subtitles.

Final Word: Wacky mishaps and quick-witted dialogue from famed playwright Neil Simon, this film is an enjoyable romp with a great performance from Dreyfuss. However, like cat people and dog people, it seems that people are either Neil Simon fans or they aren’t. If you’re a fan, go for it. If you’re unsure, it’s a good one to start with. If you’re not, there are not really any special features to make you stick around, so spend your hard-earned cash elsewhere.
