Campus police are still investigating a fight that happened on campus Feb. 26, after which “a lot of people started coming forward with a lot of different stories,” said Police Specialist Nidal Kobaissi.
The details of the confrontation between two students in front of the Auditorium remain unknown. Apparently, one student struck another and was cited and released. Police are still trying to find out the cause of the confrontation. Because of conflicting information given by students, it may take a while. “We’ll get to the bottom of it,” said Kobaissi.
In the meantime, the school is in the process of deciding what, if any, disciplinary actions are to be taken toward the students involved. “It’s still going through the disciplinary procedures,” Kobaissi said.
On Feb. 21 a hit and run accident occurred in the coaches’ lot. A driver hit a parked car and then fled the scene. It is unknown whether the perpetrator was a school employee. While only employees are supposed to have access to that lot, it is possible that someone else could have driven in. “Sometimes the gate is open so people can get in,” said Kobaissi.
An act of vandalism was reported in the Verdugo Gym on Feb. 23. Apparently, someone attempted to pry open one of the lockers in the men’s locker room. The student who was using the locker told the locker room attendant who called the police. Nothing was stolen from the locker. However, substantial damage was done to the locker door.
A woman’s cell phone was stolen from a restroom in the Auditorium on Feb. 28. The woman left it in the restroom and when she returned to retrieve it, it was gone. “She just left the restroom for five minutes,” said Kobaissi. The police took the report, but the phone was not found.
