Baseball

After beating up on the Valley College Monarchs on Tuesday 14-3 the Vaqueors, improved their record 14-20-1 overall going into Thursday’s rematch against the Monarchs.

On Tuesday Mario Estrada got the win for the Vaqueros. During their spring break tournament games, the Vaqueros dropped two of three. They lost to Coments 10-3 and 8-3 last Wednesday and then beat Palomar 6-5 Thursday.

In the win over the Coments Thursday, the Vaqueros rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning for the come-from-behind win. Nacho Ramos doubled and had two hits and Landon Cortenbach singled twice, drove in two runs, and scored once to pace the offense.

The Vaqueros travel to Bakerfield on Saturday 7 p.m.

Women’s Tennis

Women’s tennis ended their season with a 6-9 overall record. They competed against Santa Monica College on April 3, and lost the match, 2-7. They played their next match against Santa Barbara on April 8 for a Vaquero victory, 7-2. Their final match of the season was played against Ventura on April 10 at home, for a loss of 4-5.

In the Western State Conference Tournament that was held last weekend, Cindy Gomez was the only Vaquero to advance to the quarterfinals, thus giving her the eligibility to compete in the Southern California Regionals on May 1-3.

Gomez, Natasha Badkoubei, Ana Babaian and Felcia Masto are representing the Vaqueros at Ojai in the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament which will last until this Sunday.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

The Vaqueros will be competing in the Western State Conference prelims on Tuesday at Citrus College, with finals on Saturday at Citrus as well.
