The Women’s Track and Field team took first at the Western State Conference Finals Friday held at Antelope Valley College. The Lady Vaqs tallied 168-153.75 over West Los Angeles College, while the Vaqueros took third with 131.5 points behind College of the Canyons and second place West LA.
Sophomore runner Elizabeth Nelson won two events, the 1500 and 5000 meters, to go along with the 10,000 title she won last week at the WSC prelims. Justice Shank secured a WSC title for Glendale in the high jump, talling six individual conference titles for the Lady Vaqueros. Jorge Mendoza took first in the 3000-meters steeplechase Friday to make it four total WSC titles for the men. All qualifiers will compete in the Southern California Prelims Friday and Saturday at Riverside College.
