Coming off of one of the best seasons in school history, the women’s soccer team was looking for a first round playoff win against a third-ranked Orange Coast on Tuesday.
However, Glendale fell short in a 5-1 loss.
Going into the second half, with the score 1-1, the Vaqueros ran out of gas, as Orange Coast put four more goals on the board.
“The score did not reflect how hard we played,” coach Jorge Mena said. “We really gave it a try. Orange Coast is a great team.”
Despite the loss, the Vaqueros have nothing to be ashamed of. They had a great season, setting a new school record for wins with 14.
They also had Michelle Vega, Vivian Bustamante, Lili Leon, and Shanda Marsh on the All Conference First Team.
Second team inductees included Roxy Morales, Sally Farfan, and Joann Delgado. Honorable mentions were Deborah Mosombite and Cynthia Villegas.
“It was a great season,” Mena commented. “We represented our school very well, and I am really satisfied.”
