Women’s Soccer Game Rescheduled Due to Opponent’s Absence

The Glendale College women’s soccer club held pre-game practice as usual Tuesday at the Glendale Sports Complex, but it was to no avail. Glendale was to play host to Los Angeles Mission College, however the Free Spirits were a no-show, apparently because of a miscommunication about the time of the game.
The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The Vaqueros (2-2) opened the season with a 1-0 loss to El Camino.

However, they quickly rebounded with big victories against East Los Angeles College, 2-0, and Cuesta College, 3-2.

The Vaqueros were shut down by Santa Barbara Community College, 3-0, as the “other” Vaqueros rallied for three goals in the latter stages of the game.

“It was a good feeling to hold a powerhouse such as El Camino to a single goal,” Glendale women’s athletic director Terry Coblentz said. “Our team is improving every year in overall aggressiveness and control. This should be a good season.”

Despite the two losses, the team and coaching staff seem optimistic.

“Our main goal is to make it to the playoffs,” coach Jorge Mena commented. “We have a good all-around team.”
The Vaqueros will visit Moorpark today 4 p.m. as they take on the Moorpark Lady Raiders.
