In response to a cyber security incident, Glendale Community College temporarily disabled some of its computer systems, including MYGCC and the on-campus internet. And while Canvas wasn’t one of the suspended programs, some students and staff are having difficulties accessing it.
The threat was identified early Friday morning, and since then, GCC staff and external cyber response teams have been working to figure out solutions and restore GCC’s systems safely.
An investigation is ongoing, and as of now, this incident “appears to be the result of cyber threat actors,” according to superintendent Dr. Ryan Cornner. The college hasn’t explained exactly what the threat was and where it stemmed from.
Classes will still be in progress, however, on-campus Internet will not be available. GCC is aware of the issues some are facing with Canvas and has sent out an email detailing how to access Canvas again.
