Cheer Captain Killed Friday

Brittani Idom, 18, captain of the Glendale Community College cheer team, was reportedly shot and killed early Friday morning in the Lafayette Square area of Los Angeles.

Idom had just completed her freshman year at Glendale, and had planned eventually to transfer to San Diego State University.

A graduate of Pasadena High School, Idom and friends had left a dance club in the early hours of Friday morning when the shooting, thought to be gang-related, occurred.

Los Angeles City Councilman Herb Wesson said Friday that he was requesting that the city approve a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Idom’s killer.

Los Angeles police Det. Christine Holroyd said Monday morning “this is a priority case. We are hoping for leads.” However, she said, “there are no arrests yet.”

Anyone with information on the killing is asked to call (213) 473-0446.
