Math Instructor Hospitalized
May 12, 2006
As many of you know, Deirdre Collins, who is a full-time member of the mathematics division, had emergency heart bypass surgery on April 4.
Unfortunately, even though the heart surgery was successful, she has not regained consciousness and the prognosis is uncertain. She remains in the hospital ICU.
Her husband, Sterrett, and other family members have expressed gratitude for all the support from members of the college community. However, at this time they are not able to receive visitors or phone calls as all their energy is focused on keeping vigil for Deirdre’s recovery.
For those of you who are not acquainted with Deirdre, she came to us from Victor Valley College where she not only had tenure but she also served as department chairperson.
We felt extremely fortunate that she chose to leave Victor Valley and make the commute to Glendale, and she has contributed significantly to the instructional program since coming to the campus.
Your thoughts and prayers would be most appreciated by the family.
