Masonic Lodge Donates $10,000
December 12, 2003
The Glendale Community College Service Learning Center has received a grant of $10,000 from the Glendale Masonic Lodge to fund after-school tutors at Wilson Middle School for the academic year.
Former GCC student and current Senior Warden with the lodge, Hamlet Khatcherian said the organization was looking for a community project involving education.
Currently, the program consists of six students from GCC who have been trained and hired as tutors for subjects including math and English.
Though initially only 15 middle school students were being tutored in the program, there are currently nearly 60 students at the middle school that are receiving tutoring from GCC students thanks to the fund offered by the Glendale Masonic Lodge.
