Armenian Church Leader Makes Southland Visit


His Holiness Karekin II, the world leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church is in Southern California for a five-day visit, and will appear at 7:30 p.m. today at Glendale Civic Auditorium adjacent to campus.

Also today, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., the church leader will be present at a performance of Armenian schoolchildren at St. Gregory Church, 2215 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena.

On Saturday at 2 p.m., he will appear at a rally of the Armenian Youth Organization at the Armenian Monument at 901 N. Via San Clemente, Montebello.

Sunday events at which the leader will be present include a pontifical divine liturgy at the Hollywood Bowl at 10 a.m. The Bowl is at 2301 N. Highland Ave. At 5 p.m., there is a banquet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, which is sold out.

Also on Monday, Karekin II will appear at the 95th anniversary celebration of the Armenian General Benevolent Union at 2495 E. Mountain Ave., Pasadena.
