The 126th annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses’ theme was “inspiring stories,” and paid tribute to the people of the community who “loved unconditionally, persevered courageously, endured patiently, and accomplished much on behalf of others.” Featured for the first time was an entry by the American Armenian Rose Float Association. “Cradle of Civilization” is a celebration of Armenian culture and won the coveted President’s Award. “The Wizard,” above, is an entry by the Western Asset Management Company built by the Phoenix Decorating Company. A mythical firebird, right, part of the Singpoli Group’s entry, uses a sophisticated hydraulics system to turn its head, flap its wings and “breathe” fire.
