Childs Play
November 5, 2004
“Peekaa boo, I see you!”
Those are not phrases GCC students commonly hear in class. But at the GCC Child Development Center, those words are an everyday learning experience. For the staff and children there, creative play is an important part of early learning that encourages individual expression and confidence. At the center, program director Janette Tashiro, and her staff encourage creative exploration as they strive to provide a high quality early childhood educational environment.
The Child Development program was established in 1990. It serves the child care needs of the GCC community and provides training for those seeking careers in early childhood development, allowing them to work with children of various age groups in addition to their classroom instruction.
Childcare at the center is available to GCC staff, students and some community members whose children are between the ages of 2 and 12 years. The center remains open year-round and is located in the far corner of the upper parking lot. They may be reached at GCC ext. 5665.
