Missing 5-year-old Pasadena Boy Found Safe In Arizona

A 5-year-old boy who was abducted from his grandmother’s Southern California home was found safe early Sunday in Arizona, authorities said.

Hector Jesus Gonzalez was found with his mother, Lourdes Caro Hernandez, in Phoenix, said Pasadena Police Lt. Eric Mills.

Hernandez was taken into custody and was being detained for investigation of parental child abduction, Mills said. Gonzalez was placed in the custody of Arizona Department of Children Services.

Pasadena investigators asked Phoenix police officers to search several locations where they believed Gonzalez may have gone, Mills said.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert Saturday afternoon after Gonzalez disappeared while riding his bicycle and playing with a 3-year-old cousin outside his grandmother’s Pasadena home.

Police said the boy was visiting his grandmother over the holidays and has not had contact with his mother for several years. Family members were concerned because Gonzalez has a heart condition and needed his medication.
