Gru and his minions will come alive at Universal Studios this spring with a new ride based on the popular animated films.
The new attraction replaces the Terminator ride in the corner above the Frankenstein parking lot.
Show producer and project director Jon Corfino donned an orange vest and a hardhat to lead an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour through the nearly completed attraction. He said the ride was opened recently at the Universal Studios park in Orlando, Florida.

“We had the opportunity to see what worked and didn’t work at the Orlando park,” Corfino said. “ So we could make the Hollywood ride better.”
The new building takes up a large corner in the theme park and is adjacent to an outdoor attraction for kids, also based on the Despicable Me movie, called Super Silly Fun Land.
“We were lucky to have a whole neighborhood to work with,” said Corfino.
Patrons enter to a holding area adorned with bomb-shaped speakers and make their way to a Gru’s living room where they watch an introduction on a high-definition screen, eventually, after picking up their 3D glasses, move on to the main theater where a few lucky people will be turned into Minions on the giant screen.
The park plans a star-studded “Yellow Carpet” event in early April to celebrate the opening of the attraction.
