LOS ANGELES (AP) – A television newscaster riding a bicycle and a female jogger were shot Wednesday with pellets but neither of them were seriously injured, authorities said.
The shootings occurred about 5:45 p.m. near Griffith Park.
Gene Gleeson, 59, who works for KABC-TV, was riding a bicycle when he was shot in the back, said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman. He said the victim tried to follow the shooter’s car but it sped away.
Soon after, a 47-year-old woman jogging in the area was struck on the right side of her chest, police said.
Police said the suspects were seen in a green, four-door Toyota Camry. No arrests have been made.
Both victims were taken to Glendale Memorial Medical Center where they were treated for minor puncture wounds and bruises and released.
Police said the hospital’s staff reported that another woman who was apparently shot with a pellet gun in Griffith Park several weeks ago also was treated there.
