Glendale Community College defeated College of the Desert 75 – 68 in Tuesday’s men’s basketball game.
College of the Desert Roadrunners slowed the pace early, but the GCC Vaqueros took hold on the victory.
“We got lazy with the eight point lead we had,” GCC coach Vigen Jilizian said about the brief loss of focus.
Roadrunners guard Chris Cooper-Patton paced the offensive in the first half with 38-30 at halftime after slowing the game pace at first half.
After halftime, the Vaqueros took control behind guard Brandon Blair, with 25 points and 10 for 10 at the free throw line. The Vasqueros 14 of 16 from the free throw line to prevent a late Roadrunner comeback.
“(Blair) had a great second half,” Jilizian said. “He did a good job on offense and did a perfect job at the free throw line.”
The next game is scheduled for Dec. 13 against Long Beach at GCC.
