Glendale Community College defeated Los Angeles City College 61 – 52 on Wednesday night’s men’s basketball game.
Guard Brandon Blair scored 20 points with eight rebounds and three steals.
“(Blair) is a sophomore, been with us a couple of years,” Glendale coach Vigen Jilizian said. “He’s aggressive, yet knows what we’re trying to accomplish, as well as a good kid.”
Forward-center Armen Darakchyan added 11 points and three steals for the Vaqueros, who gained control in the second half, holding the Cubs to 9-for-32 shooting after the break. Darakchyan’s steals and Blair’s rebounding helped Glendale take control midway through the period.
Glendale trailed 30-25 at halftime but outpaced L.A. City 36-22 in the second half.
Jilizian said the Vaqueros struggle with ball movement at times. “They keep dribbling the ball and won’t let go,” he said.
Cayden Hennessy added three rebounds in 15 minutes for Glendale.
“Hennessy is small, but watch out for him,” Jilizian said.
Glendale’s next game is Dec. 6 against MiraCosta College.
