On Thursday, November 6, 2025 students filled Plaza Vaquero for the GCC Employer Meet & Greet, an event hosted by the Career Center. Held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event connected students directly with employers currently hiring across Glendale and Los Angeles County.
The Career Center team organized the event to help students gain confidence in networking and discover real employment opportunities. “This event is about connection,” said Career Services Specialist Patrik Namagardi. “We wanted students to meet companies that are hiring right now and learn how to approach employers directly.”
More than twenty organizations participated, representing a wide range of industries including healthcare, public service, and education. Glendale Adventist Health, Crescenta Valley Water District, the City of Glendale, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and Forest Lawn were among the employers who came to meet students.
“We know how competitive the job market can be,” said Career Services Assistant Ilona Movsesyan. “This is a chance for students to explore what’s out there and make a strong first impression before the holiday season.”
Career Center Director Andra Verstraete emphasized that the Meet & Greet was designed to be smaller and more student-focused than the college’s larger spring job fair. “This event is really about building relationships,” she said. “We wanted it to feel comfortable, so students can ask questions, share their goals, and start meaningful conversations.”
The Career Center also encouraged students to take advantage of its ongoing support services. Weekly workshops cover topics such as resume writing, interview practice, and LinkedIn networking. “We’re always here to help students find direction and confidence,” Movsesyan said.
As the event came to an end, students left with new contacts, leads, and a better understanding of how to navigate the job market. “When students meet employers who genuinely want to hire them, it opens doors,” said Verstraete. “That’s what this is all about. Helping them take the next step toward their future.”
