Who earned the nickname “The mother of Wi-Fi? If you do not know the answer, then you might not have been at “Woman’s History Month Triva” on Thursday, March 12th.
Glendale Community College professors Wendy Fonarow and Francien Rohrbacher hosted the inspirational and educational event at Sierra Vista from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The event created a relaxing space for participants to test their knowledge, learn new interesting facts, and meet new students and staff. The game highlighted women whose achievements made lasting impacts in science, politics, pop-culture and beyond.
There were even bonus questions about the amazing accomplishments of GCC staff. Prizes were awarded throughout the game to participants with the most correct answers.
Winners picked from a table of prizes after every round, with one prize being a Starbucks gift card. Beyond the game itself, the event also served as a space for conversation and collaboration. The energetic hosts helped keep the event moving and the participants fully engaged. Their humor and enthusiasm broke the ice and made participation easy. The event is designed for everyone on campus, regardless of how much is already known about women’s history.
As the final round concluded, the participants applauded. The event was more than just a trivia game; it was an opportunity for multi generations to celebrate empowering women, build community and learn together.
Women’s History Month recognizes the important roles women have played in history. Events like trivia help bring the stories of these amazing women into conversations.
With continued success of Women’s History Month trivia, the event can remain a staple of learning at GCC.
Students and staff are encouraged to attend next year’s Women’s History trivia event. Join the fun and educational atmosphere. The combination of education and competition makes the event especially memorable.
